Teatro Blog

Hey Ladies and Gents!

Forest checking in here! Hope you all are well. Been a busy busy busy couple of months. As you guys might already know the other fellas are busy with different shows here and there which is great news! I myself just wrapped two. One was called Torch! There is an audio clip on youtube of me singing one of the songs from the show called “Happy”. Check it out if you get a chance. The show was described as “a funeral for love”. Sounds uplifting right? lol. But so much fun to be a part of and the music was amazing. Derek Fox who wrote the pieces is an amazing composer.

Most recently, I was a part of a Broadway Benefit in a show called “Keepers”. It premiered here in NYC at Studio 54! Amazing experience. The show dealt with adoption and different people’s experiences with the process. It also dealt with the definition of family and love. Another great show to be a part of. Hopefully there will be incarnations of the show. You know I will keep you guys updated about it.

This weekend I worked with the NYC Marathon. It was so exciting. Yes there were loooooong hours and it got hectic at times, but it was great to be in the midst of all of that and see the human spirit in action. I mean these people are running 2-5 hours!!!! In the cold!! It was inspiring to say the least. All that being said.... I am taking a little break and getting domestic duties taken care of. LOL. Laundry and all that fun stuff.

So its off to through a few clothes in the dryer. Hope you guys are doing well. Take care of yourself and each other!!

Hey everyone!

So a few weeks ago TEATRO was in Zimbabwe performing 2 benefits concerts for the Cancer Foundation “Kidzcan”.
This was the most important work TEATRO has ever done.....

There will be a link posted on our website where you can go and learn more about “Kidzcan” and the wonderful and inspiring work they do.

We ask all of those TEATRO fans ( the best fans in the world wink ) out there to join with us in helping Kidzcan continue it fight to this horrible disease that affects so many little children.

No child should die because they can’t afford the right treatment.......

We as a group make this pledge to all of our fans. ANY MONEY you donate to Kidzcan goes directly to these children. There is no middle men. Any little bit you can spare will truly help to save a childs life......

JOIN TEATRO and KIDZCAN in this fight to save these children.

We hope all out there in TEATRO land are well!

More to come soon!

The Guys

Kidzcan is a registered Private Voluntary Organisation (Registration No 04/2009) in Zimbabwe. We are concentrating our efforts on improving the provision of an early diagnosis and effective treatment of cancer in children, as well as to contribute to the well being of those children suffering from cancer and other related life threatening blood disorders. We aim to ensure that the affected children and their families have access to a high standard of treatment and support, regardless of their place of residence or their socio-economic background.

Although initially we sought to provide hope, comfort and consolation to the families and children suffering from cancer, very quickly Kidzcan came to realise the overwhelming need to assist with procedures required in bettering the circumstances of the children with cancer in Zimbabwe. Along this line Kidzcan also set out to develop and produce educational materials for distribution to rural clinics and hospitals.

History in Brief

Andrea Whatman (a survivor of childhood cancer) (Andrea’s Story) was one of the ‘Pari Volunteers’ - a group of ladies who visited the children in Parirenyatwa Hospital on a weekly basis. These ladies were there to entertain the children - playing games, arts and crafts and reading stories became something they looked forward to. Nine months later ‘Pari Volunteers’ became a mission of Northside Community Church. The cost of chaemotherapy drugs for the children with cancer was becoming a problem for the small mission and Dr Mupanamunda, the only paediatric oncologist at the time, discussed possibilities with Andrea. In 2002, they both received a month’s fully-funded fellowship to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, USA. On their return they committed to forming a private voluntary organization called Children’s Cancer Relief - now known as Kidzcan.
Under Andrea’s leadership, Kidzcan continues to carry out their dream of meeting the special and increasingly urgent needs of disadvantaged children with cancer in Zimbabwe, children who otherwise may not be able to be correctly diagnosed and treated.

Although initially, Kidzcan provided only spiritual and emotional support to children suffering from cancer in Zimbabwe, as well as being a source of comfort to their parents, very quickly, due to dire shortages of medical provisions such as chemotherapy drugs, Kidzcan started to provide financial and other aid. Kidzcan also develops and produces educational materials for distribution to rural clinics and hospitals.
Kidzcan has developed over the past several years and now aims to:
• Fund diagnostic testing
• Source and distribute much of the critically needed oncology medications
• Provide supplementary feeding programmes for cancer patients such as Infant formula and nutritional cereals
• Transport assistance for crucial follow-up appointments as the lack of public transport makes traveling from home to the hospital very difficult and patients have no transport of their own and very little money.
• Support for the Parents of our cancer patients
• Palliative care drugs
• Blankets, clothes and toys
• National awareness and sensitization campaigns to achieve early detection (more)
• A trained volunteer program to provide art therapy and playtime for the children restricted to the hospital.

We believe that kids with cancer can survive and there is a future

The guys! cool smile

Whats going on Teatro peeps! Long time no speak. lol. I have been running around like crazy! Went back to my hometown of Austin, Texas for a family member’s anniversary. I sang Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky”. Stevie is the man!!! lol. The ceremony went off beautifully. It was very emotional. They were celebrating 30 years of marriage and my cousin has been experiencing some health issues… so it was very important for her. But after all the tears, etc.....we danced our butts off! And I LOVE to dance y’all.

Since I have been back in the Big Apple, I have been trying to keep cool among other things. Other things being… cast in a new show called Torch. It is written by the composer Derek Fox and it features three lovely ladies and yours truly. Its reminiscent of a cabaret show. We all take turns singing new songs about love and loss. Sad stuff, but luckily most of my songs have a nice lil groove.

Well I hope everyone is doing great out there in cyberspace!! Take care of yourselves and each other. smile

Whats going on friends! We had a great time in Italy. We were treated so well and got to see some amazing places/things! In fact we stopped over in Cannes and the film festival was going on at the same time. Exciting!!! But beyond that the place was beautiful. Perfect weather, kind people, and some cool historical spots to explore.

In addition to Italy, we dropped by Barcelona which was equally as impressive. We are so blessed to be able to see these places while doing what we love to do. We can’t wait to see all you guys in your hometowns wherever they may be. Soon, soon, soon.

Right now I am going over a script and score for a short, fun show that I will be doing next week: a musical production of Back To The Future! LOL. Its going to be so fun! I can’t wait. Rehearsals are tonight.  Wish me luck you guys. I’m very excited.

Then up ahead next month… the guys and I are going to Denmark! We’ll let you guys know how that goes when we get back. We can’t wait to get started though.

Okay.. thats all for now from me. Hope you all are having a wonderful day and we will speak to you again soon!

Happy Holidays!!

Hey there Everyone,

We just wanted to take a moment to say Happy Holidays from all of us to all of you!!!!We hope you have enjoyed our Christmas gift for your constant support! (The 2 free Christmas downloads).
The last few months have been busy to say the least. Simon has been performing with Phantom of the Opera on the West End! He and his leading lady performed at the reopening of the Paris Opera house which was then broadcast on one of the USA’s biggest national morning shows. cheese
Stephen has been working on a Musical in Malaysia which has kept him very busy.
Andrew has been keeping busy by working with Jeremiah on new Teatro material!!! wink
Some of the biggest news has been Jeremiah opening Carousel on the West End to rave reviews (4 and 5 stars). Both for the show, and himself. Some of the reviews include....

“Truly believable as Billy, Jeremiah James convincingly portrays both the gentle and brutish sides of his character, while Alexandra Silber’s heartbreaking performance is capable of stopping the show”
-Linda Martland, THE STAGE

“Jeremiah James is outstanding”
-OBSERVER

“Jeremiah James is sexily magnetic”
-METRO

“But it’s easily explained by the tremendous chemistry between Alexandra Silber’s vulnerable and deeply touching mill-worker and Jeremiah James’s dark, brooding hothead Billy.  Being a’ couple o’ specks o’ nothing’, as Billy puts it, makes them kindred spirits. Their yearning pours out in If I Loved You, and Billy imagines the child Julie is carrying, James makes the transition from fecklessness to fatherhood in the space of one marvellous number. (The Soliloquy)”
-Georgina Brown, THE MAIL ON SUNDAY

“It’s a treat, too, to have a lead who exudes real American man. Jeremiah James, who plays fairground bad boy Billy Bigelow, conveys his raging, passionate uselessness in a way which wins your empathy, despite his tendency to smack the women he loves in the chops.”
-TIMEOUT MAGAZINE LONDON

“Jeremiah James brings a dangerous air and brooding sex appeal to Billy Bigelow.”
-March Shenton, LONDON LITE

“Jeremiah James’s Billy Bigelow is outstanding too: the desperado with the heart of gold, his conscience flickering like a faulty pilot light.”
-Kate Kellaway, THE OBSERVER

“What a shattering impression James and Silber make, after the dead Billy returns to earth and realises his daughter is following in his unhappy footsteps.” I let my golden chances pass me by,” he sadly sings and returns to heaven , half his life lost. An experience to cherish.”
-Nicholas De Jongh, EVENING STANDARD

“Posner’s actors, especially the vocally impressive Alexander Silber as a touching Julie and Jeremiah James as a muscular Billy, play the heart of the piece with stirring conviction.”
-Michael Coveney, WHATSONSTAGE.COM

“Jeremiah James as the dark-souled Billy and Alexandra Silber as the adoring Julie possess fine voices”
-Michael Billington, THE GUARDIAN

“The level of singing throughout is close to operatic. Muscular Mr James (as good-looking as a young Oliver Reed) brings nonchalance to his part in the duet If I Loved You - a contrast to Alexandra Silber’s impassioned Julie.”
-Quentin Letts, DAILY MAIL QUENTIN LETTS

“Silber herself has a rich mezzo soprano voice, and her duets with Jeremiah James’s full-bodied Billy are packed with both longing and disappointment.”
-Michael Coveney, THE INDEPENDENT

To see more about Carousel go to carouselthemusical.com or to find out about Simon in Phantom go to thephantomoftheopera.com. Busy month!!

Hey Everyone,

So its been a busy few weeks for Teatro!!!! Now that we have a moment to take a breath we wanted to let our friends here know what’s been going on; >
O.K. so first things first.
Stephen has just finished filming an indie film that will be released in the near future which we are all pumped about seeing!!! We will let you all know the release date as soon as we know. So keep checking back! He also may be staring in a play come Oct. So again check back we will keep you posted.
Simon premiered in one of the most if not the most popular musical of all time, Phantom of the Opera, in the part of Raul. Family and friends were on hand to mark the event. It was so fantastic to see him in a role that truthfully was tailor made for him. He was a stand out in a cast full of incredible talent. I can personally say this seeing as I have seen the show 5 times smile But in whole hearted honesty, he was fantastic in the show. He combined his unique rock vocal sound and masculine demeanor to make the character of Raul more than just the handsome love interest but a three dimensional character with passion and intensity. Coming from a theater lover, as soon as you have a chance, come to Her Majesty’s Theater and see him in this role. It truly is not to be missed. wink
Andrew has been busy working on Teatro material for our upcoming concerts. Different ways of presenting our songs in concert!!!! tongue wink Maybe playing some instruments etc. So you may see something different come the next concert!! wink
Jeremiah (me.) has been busy pulling double duty with rehearsals for CAROUSEL and concerts with the guys. Now in less than a week, CAROUSEL will be opening at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley. Now as you see me in person, I do look a bit different due to my long hair and large mutton chop sideburns. tongue laugh But i promise it is me just the same. If you come to the show please stop and say hello after grin
Now as you may know Teatro as a group has been all over the place the last month. After releasing in SA, we have been busy doing interviews for their local press. So once again thank you in South Africa for all your support and hopefully soon you will be seeing us performing there live wink
On top of that we have been doing a string of concerts. Just recently we were flown to Venice, Italy to do a private concert, then flew back and had the unbelievable honor of performing in front of 40,000 people at Proms in the Park. Then from there we were off to Belgium to launch the current album live in front of 25,000 people at the STARS of EUROPE concert for Unicef which was broadcast to 15 countries across Europe. cheese So thank you soo much to folks in Belgium for having us!!! We look forward to coming back, and seeing you all again soon! grin
We also want to thank Oliver Thornton for once again stepping in for myself and Simon when we were unavailable due to our show commitments at different times throughout the month. Oliver is not only a fantastic and dynamic performer but also a dear friend who we all consider to be the 5th member of Teatro. Don’t miss the opportunely to see him STAR alongside Jason Donavon in the new West End production of Priscilla Queen of the Dessert The Musical. (http://www.priscillathemusical.com)
So there we are. Once again thank you soooo much to all our fans for their continued support. We hope to see you all soon. And remember new things are coming soon! So keep checking back!!!
Best Wishes to you all.
