HO HO HO! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Festive greetings!
Long time no blog. Well, apologies for this but we have been rather busy since the Royal Variety. We met Cliff Richard (do our german friends know who he is?), sang at a charity dinner of his and were subsequently booked by a business Magnate for a performance on his ‘Super-Yacht’ next year. At the Whatsonstage awards we sang luck be a lady and said hello to Michael ball again and Elaine Page (whose BBC Radio 2 show we pre-recorded and is broadcast on Sunday the 23rd); Friday night was Teatro night- also singing was Paul Potts who we had shared a dressing room with at the Royal Variety. Incidentally we also shared a dressing room with Piano Wizard Lang Lang that night - very nice guy, he gave me a high five at the end of the Let it Be finale onstage. This moment of comradery was cruelly cut in the TV edit it seems as I can’t see it anywhere. Thinking about writing to Wogan on ‘points of view’ to complain.
what else? Radio shows. Ken Bruce’s Celebrity pop quiz was probably the most fun i’ve ever had. ever. For this the irrevocable bond of Teatro was challenged. Split into two camps, this was being billed as the fight of the century but to be blunt the competition was over before it begun. firstly- the childhood mates, the 12 year friendship, the ‘untouchables’ and heavy favourites: Andrew/Simon: Vs. The challengers and clear underdogs: Jeremiah/Stephen. As those who have listened to it will know - it became embarrasing. It was an absolute mauling. 33-19. Even I was surprised how weak the competition was. I just felt glad that because Jeremiah’s family are in America they wouldnt have been able to tune in and witness his demise live on air to an audience of about 6 million listeners.
We performed at the OK Christmas Party; sipped Tea at the Savoy hotel with two lovely ladies who had won the daily mail competition to meet Teatro; sang on the Wright Stuff; went on Alan Carr’s Christmas Day radio 2 show; performed alongside Katie Melua at the Nordoff-Robbins Carol Service in Chelsea woth readings by Sienna Miller, Bill Nighy and Dame Eileen Atkins; strode the red carpet to the I am Legend (Will Smith) Premiere; crooned Winter Wonderland on the ONE show on BBC 1 and the list goes on…
anyway must stop writing now. I doubt anyone has got this far and is still reading but have a very merry christmas all of you. look out for us on New Year’s Eve on BBC 1 for the live countdown where we will be performing Luck be a Lady.
Thank you to our record company Sony BMG and our management
but most importantly thank you, fans and friends of Teatro, for investing your time, energy and thoughts into us. All of us really do appreciate it and we can’t wait to meet you next year when we finalise our tour!
Merry Christmas
Andrew x

hey! it’s all going so well, I bet your feet haven’t touched the ground! Just about all my ex-pat friends here are into Teatro music now so they’re all asking me to get you to perform here in Brussels...how about it? I’m sure we could get the Palace as a good venue. Hoping to see you in Gateshead and will make that special trip home. Aly and Georgina
